I'm not very good at the blogging thing I've noticed. Friends who do it regularly do it regularly, and I'm in awe of their ability to do so. It is not that I don't have a lot I want to say, but I am unaccustomed to writing from the hip, so to speak, and that seems to be at a premium for blogging. I'll keep plugging away, and I am hopeful that more practice will help. As my sons like to say, "Dad, you are still just a digital immigrant!"

Today's blog theme struck me the other day as I watched our community in action. I was in meetings, walked around to some classrooms, to practices, in Chapel, and much I witnessed was rough around the edges. Buildings, systems, shirt-tales and haircuts, lockers, discussions... it seemed everywhere I looked that day I saw rough edges - and I thought it was good... (click on title to continue reading)

Hi Everyone!

Today marks the first posting of what I hope will become at least a bi-weekly (every two-weeks) blog on ideas/events/issues for the ESA community.  I am approaching this with a little bit of trepidation because I do not want to go down the path of many bloggers who write voluminously on very little, I am worried about making sure I post on a timely basis (between journalism and grad school I became pretty good at writing to a deadline, but it has been a while), and I just wonder how well this will work.  As a teacher, I have found blogging and the use of wikis to be a powerful tool for increasing communication and writing (including peer editing).  As a Head of School, we'll see how this works!
