Our 5th grade students have taken part in this competition - composed of 5 monthly challenges - for many years. This year they competed with students in all 50 states and 30 other countries around the world.

Writing Awards
The Writes of Spring is an annual contest for students in Lafayette Parish and five other neighboring parishes. It is sponsored by the Acadiana Writing Project, the Lafayette Parish Public Library and the Creative Writing department of ULL. Two of our students placed in the Kindergarten - 2nd grade division of this regional contest.
- 2nd place in Poetry went to Pierce Perret
- 1st place in Non-Fiction went to Addie Green
Louisiana Writes is a state-wide contest that takes in nearly 1,000 entries each year.

Le Grand Concours
ESA 3rd- 5th graders compete each year in Le Grand Concours, a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. This year just over 3,000 students competed in the elementary division. 77% of ESA Lower School French students scored in the top 50% nationally.

The St. Barnabas Award is presented to the student who maximizes his or her experience at the Lower School and takes full advantage of all that ESA has to offer. This year’s recipient of the St. Barnabas Award is Emmy Romero.
The Headmaster’s Award is presented each year to the student who most exemplifies academic excellence, honor, and leadership. This year, the Headmaster’s Award was presented to Bird Fuller.
