Dr. Kat Movassaghi

Kat Surratt Movassaghi became Upper School Head in 2019. A familiar face at ESA, she taught English and theatre from 1995 to 2001 before moving to New Orleans with her family. In 2006, she returned to teach theatre, and eventually took over as chair of the  Performing Arts Department.

Dr. Mova now oversees upper school curriculum, advisory, extracurriculars, and student leadership activities, and leads, mentors and supports the faculty. In addition to holding bachelor’s and master’s degrees from LSU, she earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from UL-Lafayette in 2020. For her dissertation, "A Phenomenological Study: Intentional Elements of a Landscaped School Campus Reduce Stress in Adolescents," she used the Cade campus as a model.
