Micah Nicholas, '13

Micah Nicholas, '13, is a member of ESA's Board of Trustees and the CAFÉs Coordinator for Lafayette Parish. CAFÉ stands for Community and Family Engagement, and is a partnership between the Lafayette Parish School System, United Way of Acadiana, and the Love Our Schools community initiative. It is designed to build relationships and provide support for nine schools within the parish. Micah is the first to fill the position, following his service as the Granberry Unit Director and Program and Training Coordinator of the Boys & Girls Club of Acadiana. He was named the 2020 Area Council Professional of the Year for Louisiana. Micah attended Sewanee, where he majored in psychology.

In 2018, Micah (right) returned to Cade to give the Senior Chapel he never gave as a student.

At ESA, Micah learned to push himself when things aren’t easy. “ESA teaches you to be comfortable with being uncomfortable,” he says. "ESA was a place that challenged me, that forced me to think outside the box, and that really showed me the true person that I am today."
