Learning with Pumpkins

Kindergarteners combined art, math, and Halloween, and invited parents to join in the fun! The students measured their pumpkins and made charts of the heights and weights. Working in pairs, they scooped the seeds and fibers out of their pumpkins and recorded how many cups of seeds they found. Parent volunteers helped them to carve the pumpkins into the jack-o'-lanterns the pairs had designed on paper. The fibers went into the compost bin, and next week students and teachers will roast and eat the seeds!
