Professional Development
Modeling lifelong learning: ESA teachers have been traveling throughout the South to take advantage of professional development opportunities and to bring what they are learning back to colleagues and students. Lower School Director of Student Life and Learning Dani Oldfield and World Languages department chair Dr. Sybil Carter attended the Independent Schools of the Southwest (ISAS) Department Chairs conference in Austin this week to learn about supporting our teachers, students, and families. College Counselor Marshall Gray is in Houston for the National Association for College Admission Counseling's annual conference. Performing Arts department chair Bill Smith and Visual Arts department Chair Jennifer Graycheck visited All Saints' Episcopal School in Fort Worth, the site of this year's ISAS Fine Arts Festival, a three-day performing and visual arts showcase for upper school students. The festival has been on hold for the past three years, so representatives from all of the participating schools made the trip to help ensure this year's event gives students plenty of opportunities to perform, exhibit, and network. Finally, Spanish teacher Yoly Mayeux is participating in an online mentoring program for AP teachers to discuss strategies to support student success.
