Fifth Graders Visit Teton Science Schools
ESA fifth graders served as student researchers at the Teton Science School in Kelly, Wyoming during the first week of May. While living in cabins nestled at the foot of the mountains in Grand Teton National Park, students and teachers worked alongside graduate students tracking wildlife and conducting field studies as part of the science school’s research program.
While learning about the ecosystem of the area, the students observed bison, elk, moose, pronghorn deer, hawks and eagles. The place-based educational experience included not only science, but math, art and writing as the students journaled about and sketched what they saw, and kept detailed budgets of their food and souvenir expenses in nearby Jackson Hole.
