In the Writes of Spring contest, sponsored by the Lafayette Public Library, the following students placed in their divisions: Nonfiction - Kindergarten, First, and Second Grades, first place: Paisley DeJean, “My Trip to Disneyland”; Fiction - Kindergarten, First, and Second Grades, first place: William Kellner, “A Day in Ancient Rome,” second place: Oliver Massey, “Goldilocks: A New Perspective”; Fiction - Third and Fourth Grades, second place: Sophie Wilson, “A Phoenix’s Birth,” third place: Chaney Frances Joseph, “The Pink Spot in the Sky”; Poetry - Third and Fourth Grades, first place: Sharon Lazarus, “Autumn”; Nonfiction - Fifth and Sixth Grades, third place: Matthew Green, “The Gray Wolf”;
and Fiction - Fifth and Sixth Grades, second place: Ben McWhorter, “Back in Time.” In the CWPPRA Youth Wetland Writing Contest, Pierce Perret placed first in the K-4 poetry division with "The Swamp Chestnut Oak," and Lucia Moroux placed second with "An Ode to the Dragonfly." Sophie Wilson placed first in the K-4 short story division with "The Star," and William Cahill placed second with "Le Marais." In 9th-12th grade poetry, Jae Fabre placed first with "My Dad," and Lily Pillaro placed third with "Bayou Memories." In 9th-12th grade personal narrative, second place went to Lauren Gachassin for "A Trip," and third place went to Sadie Fuller for "A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words."
