Spinal Focus

Dr. John Martin, the father of Madeleine, '23, visited teacher Summer Slater's Anatomy and Physiology class Friday to talk about his work as an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist. The students recently studied the spinal cord and the anatomy and function of nerves. Dr. Martin demonstrated how he applies the information they learned in his daily work with injections and medications that block pain and prepare patients for surgery. He shared models of the spine and images from procedures he recently performed to illustrate the parts of the anatomy he discussed with the class. Thanks to Dr. Martin for sharing his time and expertise with ESA science students!
