Math Honors

The math department honored exceptional work in a number of ways this week. Upper school students participated in the American Mathematics Competition this month. Juniors and seniors took the AMC 12. Tied for second among ESA test-takers were Ayla Bergeron, Ryan Cotteleer, Curtis Hidalgo, and Grace Pellegrin. Placing first was Owen Broussard. Freshmen and sophomores completed the AMC 10. Tied for second were Jiya Lodha, Bella Rutherford, and Marie Walton. Colby Huffman placed first among ESA students. Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society, welcomed new members junior Coen Romero, sophomore Turner Gachassin, and freshmen Tripp Kordisch, Andon Bergeron, and Cain Meche. To be eligible, students must have completed or be enrolled in Algebra II, and must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA in mathematics courses corresponding to academic year: 4.0 for freshmen, 3.8 for sophomores, and 3.6 for juniors. Finally, this month's Pi Club members, those who scored 4 or higher in the ALA-LA-MISS competition, are Ayla Bergeron, Siyeon Joo, Colby Huffman, Arun Cacodcar, Alex Trahan, and Emerson Chen.
