Lower School Arts
ESA's performing and visual arts experiences begin in the Lower School with "Specials." Art teacher Danielle DuBois introduces students to different media and to a variety of artists and their work. Students experiment with drawing, painting, sculpting, mixed media, and more as they explore color, light, and their own creativity. Music teacher Brii Murray-Simmons combines music appreciation and history with plenty of singing and the chance to try various instruments.
Through Enrichment Clusters, which meet once a week for six weeks each fall and spring, students work in small groups to explore fields in depth. Some of the clusters explore arts-related subjects, such as videography, set design, photography, jewelry making, costume design, comic books, textile arts, and more.
