Career Day 2021
Avery Alpha, '99, joined us remotely for Career Day 2021 to describe her experiences in foreign service. Avery is a Foreign Service Officer in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs for the US Department of State. From 2015 to 2017, she worked in the White House as Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Advisor to the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security & Counterterrorism. A graduate of Columbia University, Avery began her State Department Career in 2006 as a Foreign Service Officer in the US Embassy in Cairo, then served as Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council. At Career Day, she spoke to juniors and seniors about her work in counterterrorism, homeland security, and cybersecurity.
