With 19 individual state championships, Samantha, '19, has made a huge mark on ESA athletics. She led her ESA teams to seven state titles, and was named ESA's Sidney Hebert Athlete of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Sam's championship titles include:
2019 Track: 1600m, 800m, (2nd in 400)
2018 Track: 1600m, 800m, 400m, (3rd in 3200m) (Outstanding Athlete)
Sam was also a vital member of the state runner-up soccer team, and led as class president for the past two years. As a peer leader, she helped freshmen make the transition to upper school. In all of her leadership roles - captain, president, peer leader, club leader - Sam led with kindness, humor, hard work and grace. A member of the National Honor Society, Sam matched her athletic success with academic excellence. "Science is my favorite subject," Sam says, "because I like figuring out why and how certain elements of life work." Sam and two of her classmates founded the STEM Club for Girls to share their passion for science and math with younger students through hands-on activities.
At commencement in June, Sam was awarded the Headmaster's Award and the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award. She is one of five students named to the founding class of ESA's Cum Laude Society chapter.
