Writing Awards
The Writes of Spring is an annual regional contest for students in Lafayette Parish and five neighboring parishes, sponsored by the Lafayette Parish Public Library. 
Third Grade:
  • In the Personal Narrative division
    •  Taylor Wang placed third for “Swim Meet Sunday”
Fourth Grade:
  • In the poetry division
    • Luke Fitzmorris placed third with “The Lounging Dog”
    • Charlie Smith placed second with “Red Fox”
    • Rozi Olivier placed first with “Secrets”
  • In the Fiction division
    • Jordan Rainey placed first with “The Chair”
Festival of Words Youth Creative Writing Competition
  • In the fiction category
    • Emmali Broussard received an Honorable Mention for “Sally”
    • Michael Chad Lipari place third for “The Picture” 
  • In the Poetry category
    • Reid Russell received an Honorable Mention for “Stars, Sun, Moon”
    • Rozi Olivier placed third with “Window”
    • Adira Farmer placed second with “Bees Knees, Flowers, The Wind and Pinky” 
Math Awards
Students in fourth grade compete in the Continental Math League. This is a national problem-solving competition that requires students to complete timed, written tests. Each test has six challenging word problems. At the end of the year-long competition, top scorers within our school are recognized for their achievement with awards.

ESA students competed this year in Le Grand Concours, a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Our students’ scores are compared to the over 3,000 students who competed in the elementary division.
