Heifer Ranch

Freshmen visit Heifer International's Heifer Ranch in Arkansas and spend two nights in the Global Village where food, water and fuel to cook are limited. Students are divided into groups and assigned living situations such as those found in an urban slum, a rural Appalachian community and a third world village, with resources reflecting the conditions in those environments. In addition to getting a glimpse of global hunger and poverty, the students experience the importance of pooling their resources and working together.
