Design Collaboration

In an art and design thinking collaboration, fifth grade students are spending several weeks designing outdoor play areas for PK students. One class will be designing a music wall, and the other will design a water table. This week, the water table group met with guest expert John Oliver, a landscape architect/architect who teaches Design Communication at UL and works for JESCO, an environmental consultant firm. The music wall group met with designers and musicians Allison Bohl DeHart and Peter DeHart of Makemade. The Makemade team led the students through exercises to generate, discuss, and evaluate ideas. For the next step, fifth graders will observe and measure PK students as they begin to hone their concepts.
