Girls State

Zoya Subramanian, '24, spent a week at Northwestern State University in June for Louisiana Girls State. Girls State is a leadership and citizenship training program for high school students that takes participants through the political process with mock campaigns and elections for city, parish, and state offices. "I would definitely recommend Girls State to other students," says Zoya, pictured with Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory. "It’s a great experience to get out of your comfort zone and meet lots of different people. It teaches you about government and leadership in general. It’s just a week long program, but a very memorable one as you make lots of new friends and learn more about the world." Thanks, Zoya!
