Design Thinking

Third grade science students have been working together to design, test, and redesign roller coasters in the Idea Lab. Science teacher Beverly Burgin challenged the students to generate ideas for roller coaster designs using what they've learned about gravitational force and potential and kinetic energy. Working in groups, they collaborated to build a roller coaster that can propel a marble along a track. In the Idea Lab, teacher Ashleigh D'Aunoy taught them the principles of design thinking and the iterative process to make revisions to their roller coasters. Read more about the project and hear from the students in this article in The Advertiser.
