Story Frantzen, '18
Story Frantzen, ’18, graduated from Stanford University in 2022 with a degree in physics. He enjoyed a gap year before continuing his studies at MIT in a doctoral program on experimental nuclear and particle physics. He is currently in his third year in Cambridge and is loving his time on the east coast.
“My research leverages a massive & seriously cool detector at Thomas Jefferson National Laboratory to measure rare final states that result from firing a beam of high-energy electrons at a proton target," Story says. "Measurements like these provide clues of what's actually going on inside the proton—a place much more mysterious than you might think!”
About his time at ESA, Story says, “As more time passes, I become more fascinated that ESA exists. For that matter, ESA taught me what it even means to be fascinated by something in the first place. My life has been the richer ever since.”
Story also encourages our Falcons to trust the process. “It is possible that ESA will ask you to use your brain more than anything you will ever do afterward—by a moonshot, even. However difficult the moment, trust that there is a method in the madness. Trust yourself, too.”
Thanks for sharing your update, Story!
