Dr. Bindu Manuel Nayak, ’93

We recently caught up with Dr. Bindu Manuel Nayak, ’93. After graduating from ESA, Bindu continued her education at Tulane University and went on to medical school at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. While there, she met her husband, Gautam Nayak, who was a medical student at Tulane University Medical Center, and the two married in 2001. They moved to Washington D.C., where Bindu began an internal medicine residency at Georgetown University Medical Center. She completed a chief residency year in 2005, followed by a fellowship in endocrinology, also at Georgetown University Medical Center.

Bindu and Gautam welcomed three children while on the East Coast, and in 2009, the family moved to the state of Washington. Bindu has been practicing as an endocrinologist in the town of Wenatchee, Washington ever since. She’s very involved in health equity work and is currently the Vice President of the Washington State Medical Association. “It has been a pleasure to get involved and to work on improving health outcomes in my community and in the state,” Bindu says. She encourages our ESA Falcons to “expand your horizon and think about how your work and interests can uplift your community.”

“I value the writing skills that I learned at ESA and my love for reading and literature that I gained there,” Bindu says. “It made me pursue a double major in English and in cell and molecular biology at Tulane University. Those writing skills are still so useful in everything that I do now.”
