Brittan Falterman, '18
After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Brittan Falterman, '18, started working as a nurse in the Medical ICU at UAB Main Hospital while completing pre-requisites for medical school. We are proud to announce she is in her first year of medical school at LSUHSC in New Orleans. She was excited to update us that while working in Birmingham, she met her fiancé and they will marry in June of 2026!
“I learned how to study, manage my time, and take notes while at ESA,” Britt says. “Once I got to college, I didn't need to learn how to study or critically think, because I was already well prepared by ESA. Our tests in upper school weren't strictly recall, but our teachers made us think about the ‘why.’ I believe that is one of the most valuable lessons.”
Britt gives credit to Mr. Begnaud’s chemistry class for being so helpful in preparing her for college. “I learned everything I needed to know for my nursing school chemistry! I was teaching some of my friends chemistry before I even started the course myself!” She adds, “I learned how to work with people and collaborate with my peers and teachers. I, along with my classmate Sam Jindia, started the first ever career day at ESA, not knowing that it would form such a legacy!”
Britt’s message to our current Falcons: “ESA truly shaped who I am today and the ambition I have now. Be yourself and trust the process. What may seem like busy work or annoying is actually super useful for your future! I strive to be better, while also learning from my mistakes. ESA also taught me to be okay with being uncomfortable and to want to be challenged. Now, in medical school, I am still holding on to those values and lessons that I learned while in high school.”
Thanks, Britt!
